LIHN

Fellowship Bible Church has been on board with LIHN since its beginning here in Longview. It has required much from us. It has been uncomfortable at times for us. Yet, it has given us exactly what we have needed as a church - an opportunity to selflessly give ourselves and our facilities away. The burden has been light because it has been shared by so many in the church and so many other churches. The reward has been great as well. Truly needy folks have been helped and we have grown deeper and much better as a church. Join us!

Jim Johnson, Pastor of Fellowship Bible Church

What a wonderful opportunity to fulfill Christ's mission within the church and community! First Christian Church, Longview, has been blessed by welcoming local families in need to a safe, friendly, caring and sacred place. In return, LIHN has added a new spirit to our church and how we utilize our facilities. Our church family has discovered that as we try to be a blessing to others, we are actually the ones who receive and experience the blessing of Christ. We invite your church to experience the same.

Dr. Richard Emerson, First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ)

I have seen the ministry that LIHN does in our community bless many people. Some of those people are the ones who find themselves in the unfortunate situation of being homeless. This ministry truly helps them do the things that will empower them in order to get back on their feet and move forward in life. Some of the people I have seen blessed by LIHN are those in my Church who have had the opportunity to be a part of this wonderful ministry.

Dr. Pat Sparks Sr., Minister of First United Methodist Church

The Longview Interfaith Hospitality Network has been a wonderful thing for our church. It has brought the "invisible people," whom Jesus called "my brothers and sisters" (Matthew 25:40), into visibility for our own children, youth, and adults. A picture is worth a thousand words when it comes to Christian Education. Our personal involvement with families hit by extremely difficult times has blessed our members with a renewed faith.

Rev. David Handley, Interim Pastor of First Presbyterian Church, Kilgore

It has been a rich blessing to me to hear our people at Alpine as they excitedly served in the program. Over and over again the comment was made that the blessing was ours instead of theirs. It is a distinct thrill to be a part of helping to rebuild the lives of parents and children involved in our program. Thanks for asking us to be a part of the great work.

Dr. Richard Hollingsworth, Minister of Alpine Presbyterian Church

The opportunity for a local church to be involved in this unique ministry is amazing. We are able to provide love and support to people who have a real need and have simply been placed in a very difficult life situation. The people within the church are able to serve in different ways using their own gifts and abilities, ranging from interaction with the families, preparing meals, hosting overnight, or serving at the Day Center. Some are simply able to help with a work project to improve the LIHN Day Facility. The church is doing what I believe Jesus would want the church doing...we are blessed to be involved in such a work.
